Madison Marquette Helps Pioneer Next Generation Shopping Center Media Network

Joins PlaceWise Media’s New Shoptopia® Network of Online, Mobile, Social and Place-Based Media

WASHINGTON, DC (April 20, 2011) – Madison Marquette announced today that it is among the first shopping center owners and operators to join Shoptopia®, a new platform that combines online, social, mobile and digital place-based communications to reach consumers before, during and after their shopping trips.

“Madison Marquette’s social media commitment has created new relationships between our centers and their shoppers,” said Kurt Ivey, Senior Vice President of Madison Marquette. “Shoptopia will allow us to deepen and further monetize those relationships by integrating our new media platforms and by opening them up to advertisers.”

Shoptopia enables shopping centers, brands and advertisers to syndicate personally-relevant content to shoppers via multiple communications media. Based on a consumer’s profile and personal preferences, Shoptopia delivers targeted, real-time information about special promotions, events, loyalty rewards through their preferred communications medium – including Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, text messaging, mobile applications, in-mall video screens and email.

Shoptopia was developed by Placewise Media, the leading provider of place-based content and marketing services for the shopping center industry.  By the end of 2011, the Shoptopia® Network is expected to have 150 retail centers reaching over 100 million monthly shoppers.

Madison Marquette’s commitment to the Shoptopia network includes 18 centers across the country.  An estimated 11 million consumers shop at these retail centers each month.
